ID187-Reasons a Player Pays for the Table (Scoring)
Question: If playing for money, what are the circumstances in which a player would have to pay for the table?
Answer: Here are the four scenarios in which the erring player would pay for the table:
- If a player calls Mah Jongg while the wrong wall is in play, they are entitled to the win and the player who pushed out the wrong wall pays for the table. (See ID26)
- If the player who picked out of turn discarded the tile and the tile resulted in another player declaring Mah Jongg, the player who picked out of turn plays for the table. (See ID38)
- If the player picks from the wrong end of the wall and discards, and another player declares Mah Jongg, the player who declared Mah Jongg is entitled to the win, and the erring player pays for the table. (See ID39)
- If a misnamed tile is called for Mah Jongg, the player who misnamed the tile is required to pay the winner four times the value of the hand. (See ID43)
